Hello, my name is Fran Jenkins; the President/CEO of Urgent Response Security, LLC. I have worked and dealt with many Security companies/organizations for over ten years throughout the country. During those years, I have discovered and learned many different things about the security industry. Among those things, I have discovered that many of them have two similar issues: Security Officers do not receive enough training or proper training prior to being placed at a job site. As a result of that, some Security Officers perform poorly. In this industry many companies are mostly concern about making money; but failed to provide their clients the highest level quality of service. Yes, it is true that the presence of a Security Officer could be a form of deterrence, and may think that is sufficient; however, the issue with a non-trained Security Officer is that, what about the times they have to intervene in certain situations? Yes, their job is to observe and report. Not in all cases! In some cases, the Security Officer(s) may unexpectedly encounter a highly combative suspect where he or she may have to detain the suspect until the authorities arrive at the scene; if one of the clients, the client's employees or its visitors are involved in a situation where the Security Officer has to intervene, not being properly trained can seriously be a potential problem. Some security companies will sometimes issue firearms and other types of weapons to Security Officers, who are convicted felons, and have not received any firearms or other types of weapon training. Here are some other common issues within the security industry: regardless, if the security company is a big corporation or a small company, Security Officers sleep on the job, write poor reports and abandon his or her post which leaves the client's property or assets unprotected; which also create vulnerabilities.
