Musically, Jane began study at the age of five with Portland piano virtuoso Kelli Brown Stephens and added harp instruction four years later with the beloved and late Marion Fouse. She spent eleven months in Hamburg, Germany where she studied harp with Gesina Dreyer (also an instructor at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin), and attended classical concerts, master classes, and private lessons given by Xavier de Maistre [Principial Harpist at the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra]. In piano Jane completed the Oregon Music Teachers Association Syllabus curriculum with highest-level “Superior” marks at the age of fifteen. A year later she was accepted as a harpist with the Portland Youth Philharmonic and performed on multiple occasions at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in downtown Portland under the batons of David Hattner and Oregon Symphony Orchestra conductor Carlos Kalmar. Jane considers academic development, musical education and performance to be lifelong pursuits. Her commitment to music pedagogy and artistic progress include travel to other regions, both in the United States and abroad. She attends classical concerts, masterclasses, and workshops where collaboration with other music professionals enriches and connects an exceptional community of students and parents with a worldwide studio and classical-turned-modern idea exchange. Jane teaches piano lessons to students at her studio in Tigard, Oregon.
