Home Ownership The Fuller Center is uniquely capable of bringing together people from all walks of life to help us in our house-building projects in partnership with families in need. Through these community building projects, we have introduced those from more privileged backgrounds to the housing crisis that exists in or near their own communities. While joining with us to eliminate poverty and homelessness locally and making decent, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and public action, these volunteers have become active and vocal advocates for poverty-elimination and affordable-housing policies. Fuller Center houses are affordable for local low-income families because there is no profit built into the sale price and no interest charged on the mortgage. Fuller Center acquires properties in a variety of ways, always working closely with local municipalities. In this way, the local municipality buys into the process of creating and maintaining affordable housing in their community. Sustainability / Green Initiatives Believing that conserving the environment is an important responsibility of home building, The Fuller Center is a leader in green initiatives. Since 1997, The Fuller Center has worked to protect the environment in a variety of ways while pursuing our mission of ending homelessness and providing shelter for every eligible county resident willing to partner with us to earn it. We have a Green Advisory Council headed by Evolution Markets and a Green Design Team to design affordable energy-efficient condominiums that will be built in New Rochelle and elsewhere in Westchester. We also are leading the way in educating our homeowners about saving energy and lowering their utility bills. Veterans Initiatives Veterans Build is The Fuller Center's initiative to provide housing solutions and volunteer and employment opportunities to U.S. Veterans, Military Service Members and their families.
