Sand Hills Urban Development (SHUD) has been in existence since July 2005. SHUD is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and locally designated Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO). Our mission is promoting the common good and general welfare of the residents of the Sand Hills neighborhood with regard to housing development, education, public safety, economic development, neighborhood revitalization, and community involvement. Sand Hills is a historic community and the East portion of the neighborhood has been designated as a National Historic District that dates back to 1887. The residents are proud of the historic significance of Sand Hills and believe that historic preservation is vital and plays an important role in the overall stability of the community.
