Hugz 4 Haiti was formed as a response to the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12, 2010. Partners and friends of MEBI a recognized non-profit in Haiti since 1969, wanted a way to maintain contact and send well needed support to Haiti. Due to lack of communication, the silence was overwhelming, and unbearable - there was no way to confirm the fate of Leslie and Leo, the orphans and staff of Mission Des Eglise Baptiste Independentes (MEBI).
Our goal is to work with partners, donors, corporations and groups to provide funding and long term solutions to MEBI to help tranform Haiti in the areas of Spirituality, Health, Education, Agriculture and micro-enterprize.
For founders Leslie and Leo, serving the poor of Haiti is a life-call. The orphanage is home to 80 kids.
