The Regional Council of Goyder covers an area of 6,681km2 within the Mid North of South Australia, extending from south of Eudunda to north of Terowie. Our population of 4,360 people live in ten main townships, smaller settlements and the surrounding rural hinterland. The Goyder region is renowned for its cereal crops, wool, sheep, cattle and other livestock production & well preserved mining & pastoral heritage. The Council area is named after George Woodroofe Goyder, whose famous Goyder's Line crosses the Council area, distinguishing distinct climatic zones which have influenced settlement patterns and continue to impact on the nature of agricultural and pastoral enterprises. The larger townships of Eudunda and Burra are served with hospitals, schools, recreation & sporting facilities & community meeting places. Rural Solutions Tasmania now employs eight staff in addition to Brent and Kerry who both continue to work daily in the business. The Minnipa Agricultural Centre was previously known as the Minnipa Research Centre, Minnipa Seed Wheat Farm or Minnipa Experimental Farm. It was established on 13 May 1915. The centre is situated approximately 600 km north-west of Adelaide on the central Eyre Peninsula. The centre occupies 1,200 hectares of light sandy loam with occasional patches of limestone and lighter rises. Granite outcrops are a prominent geographical feature.

John Robertson was born in Dunachton, Invernesshire, Scotland in 1809. The family owned 'Struan' and a photograph of that property 'Struan', together with the Robertson Tartan, (courtesy Mark Seeliger) is in Struan House. John Robertson landed in Hobart in 1831 sailed for Sydney in the Saint George in 1838 with high hopes and 30 cents - a half crown and sixpence. For 9 years he worked as an overseer and increased his wealth to $6000. Obviously he was a true son of Scotland.
