The City of Alameda's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) assists residents after disasters pending the arrival of first responders. Alameda's Community Emergency Response Team trains volunteers to respond in disaster situations. When disaster strikes, CERT members support first responders, assist victims and organize volunteers. CERT members also help with non-emergency projects that improve the safety of Alameda. Alameda's CERT courses are managed by the City of Alameda Fire Department and are taught by a trained team of first responders. CERT training includes disaster preparedness, fire suppression, basic medical operations and search and rescue. It's free to all residents. Get involved! You can participate in CERT by taking classes to become a Certified Volunteer. CERT classes are held four times a year in Alameda. For more information, go to http://www.alamedacert.us.
