Dark Sky was established to create decks that would withstand the daily thrashing that they were put through. Mike started skating in 1984 and later when his sons showed interest and started going through boards left and right, decided to create a skateboard company that would produce a board that would withstand the pounding that it was created to take as well as pop the way a skater expects his board too when performing tricks. Mike spent a year traveling all over the United States visiting board manufacturers small and large to study all of the methods he could on how to construct the best decks. Mike soon realized that quality in the industry today is lost to compensate for mass production and high profits. In other words the best boards found in the market today will not always have a logo you have heard of. A lot of the "pro" decks in the industry today are not made of the quality that that you are led to believe. Some of their boards last weeks at best or only days depending on how you land your tricks.
