article about Mrs. Renison's Donuts aka Crispie Creme. Mrs. Renison was in fact a real person. I was dear friends with Brenda Renison her granddaughter through my younger years in grade school, junior high and high school. Brenda was and is a great gal and it was a family business for many many years. If I recall correctly, the corporate Krispie Kreme found was at one point partnered with the Renison's way back in the beginnings of the company. Again, going from my memory and childhood conversations with the family, my understanding was that the two partners split up and Mrs. Renison kept the original recipe and such, while Krispie Kreme's partner became a corporate entity and the Renison side decided to stay in the area and keep it as a family business.
