Shmaila Ishaq, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Endocrinology specialist. She earned her medical degree in 1995 from Fatima Jinnah Medical University in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. In 2004, she completed her Internal Medicine residency at SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn in New York. She also completed her Endocrinology fellowship in 2011 at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Shreveport. Dr. Ishaq practiced as an endocrinologist for 10 years at North Broward Health District in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., before joining Kelsey-Seybold in January 2022.

Farah Mushtaq, MD, began her medical education at the University of Nairobi in Kenya, graduating in 2007. She then relocated to Houston to complete her residency at Houston Methodist Hospital in 2015. Mushtaq completed a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the LSU Health Science Center in 2017. She came to Kelsey-Seybold as a double board-certified endocrinologist and internist in October 2025 and is trilingual in English, Kiswahili, and Urdu. Dr. Mushtaq provides expert care for a wide variety of endocrinological conditions. These include diabetes; thyroid diseases such as hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, and Graves' disease; polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS); osteoporosis, and other hormone-related conditions.

After graduating from The University of Santo Tomas Catholic University of the Philippines in 1991, Dr. Ferrer finished his Internal Medicine residency at The University of Illinois at Chicago in 1997. He went on to complete a Fellowship in Endocrinology at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1999. Dr. Ferrer is a fellow of the American College of Endocrinology, and a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and American Diabetes Association. In his free time, Dr. Ferrer enjoys tennis, biking, and swimming with his kids. He joined Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in 2008.

Austin, Texas endocrinologist, Dr. Jonathan Heckart, offers comprehensive care for health issues related to the endocrine system, including the evaluation of diabetes, bone loss, hormonal issues, including hormones from the pituitary, adrenal, and thyroid glands as well as reproductive organs. Dr. Thomas graduated from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2000. In 2001, he finished his internship at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in Internal Medicine and later completed his residency at the college. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Endocrinology and metabolism at UTMB. Dr. Thomas is a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, American Diabetes Association and The Endocrine Society. In his free time, Dr. Thomas jogs regularly and plays tennis . He is active in his church community, and enjoys teaching high school bible classes and working as a youth leader.

Mohammed Qureshi, MD, attended Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, earning his medical degree in 2014. He then completed his residency at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at the Permian Basin in 2017, followed by a fellowship at Houston Methodist Hospital in 2019. At Kelsey-Seybold, Dr. Qureshi sees patients for diabetes mellitus (Type 1 and 2), as well as thyroid diseases like Grave's disease, Hashimoto's disease and thyroid cancer, hypogonadism, PCOS, osteoporosis, parathyroid, pituitary, and adrenal diseases (including Cushing's and adrenal insufficiency). Dr. Qureshi joined Kelsey-Seybold in 2023.

Nadia Jamil, MD, completed her medical degree at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2017. In 2020, she completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Tyler, where she served as chief resident during her final year. Dr. Jamil moved to Providence, Rhode Island, and completed her Endocrinology fellowship at Brown University and Rhode Island Hospital in 2022. Board certified in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism, Dr. Jamil treats adult patients for management of endocrine diseases, including diabetes management and thyroid conditions. Her clinical interest includes obesity medicine. Dr. Jamil joined Kelsey-Seybold in 2023.

After graduating from Union College in Schenectady, New York and Albany Medical College in Albany, Dr. Lee completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine and an Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition Fellowship at The University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. Dr. Lee then joined the faculty at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans for three years before joining Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in April of 2000. Dr. Lee is director of the Primary Prevention Lipid Clinic (PPLC). The mission of the PPLC is to improve the quality of care provided to Kelsey-Seybold patients with diabetes and dyslipidemia who don't have a history of cardiovascular disease. The PPLC is also designed to help patients with difficult-to-treat dyslipidemia, a disruption in the amount of lipids in the blood, reach their targeted cholesterol goals.

Dr. Muhammad graduated from the University of Karachi in Pakistan in 1986. In 1991, he went to Chicago's Cook County Hospital to complete his Internal Medicine residency. For his fellowship, Dr. Muhammad went to the prestigious Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. When Dr. Muhammad is not caring for patients, he enjoys reading and volunteering with the American Diabetes Association.

Amar Arunachalam, MD, is a graduate of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida, where he earned his medical degree in 2019. He remained in Miami to complete a residency in Internal Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami in 2022. After relocating to Houston, Dr. Arunachalam completed a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2024. Fluent in English and Spanish, he joined Kelsey-Seybold's Endocrinology department in December 2025. Patients see Dr. Arunachalam for a wide variety of endocrine issues, including diabetes, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, and PCOS, and more.

There, she investigated several protocols related to new treatments for Multiple Myeloma. From Oct. 2001 to Sept. 2004, Dr. Kamble served as resident physician of Internal Medicine at Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. Following the residency, Dr. Kamble took a fellowship in Internal Medicine at the school before coming to Houston to complete an Endocrinology Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in 2006. Dr. Kamble is a member of The Endocrine Society and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. In her free time, Dr. Kamble enjoys spending time with her family.

Rashmeen Rahman, DO, earned her medical degree from William Carey University in 2019, completed her Internal Medicine residency at Houston Methodist Hospital, and her Endocrinology fellowship at UTMB Galveston. Dr. Rahman is board-certified in Internal Medicine and board-eligible in Endocrinology. She is a member of several professional organizations and speaks English, Urdu, Hindi, Spanish (intermediate), and Korean (elementary). She joined Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in April 2025.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology at Houston Baptist University in 2013 and her Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 2015. Before joining Kelsey-Seybold in September 2022, Niyati spent five years as a physician assistant at Sugar Land Endocrine & Thyroid, where she diagnosed and treated patients with endocrine conditions.

Faiza Mubeen, MD, joined Kelsey-Seybold Clinic as an endocrinologist in August 2023. She obtained her medical degree from Foundation University Medical College in 2009. Dr. Mubeen then completed her internship and residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2021. In addition, Dr. Mubeen completed her fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at Houston Methodist Hospital in 2023. After completing her medical degree and internship, Nour Batarseh, MD, completed her Internal Medicine residency at Advocate Christ Medical Center/UIC in Oak Lawn, Illinois, in 2017, followed by an Endocrinology fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis in 2019. She joined Kelsey-Seybold as an Endocrinology specialist in January 2023. Dr. Batarseh sees patients with diabetes, thyroid, pituitary, adrenal, and bone diseases. Anne Margarette Bacal, MD, attended the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Medical Center, earning her medical degree in 2011. She went on to Advocate Christ Medical Center/University of Illinois at Chicago, where she completed both an internship and Internal Medicine residency in 2012 and 2017, respectively. Dr. Bacal also completed an Endocrine fellowship at Loyola University Medical Center in 2019 and joined Kelsey-Seybold's Endocrinology department in June 2024. Dr. Bacal enjoys helping patients with general Endocrinology care needs ranging from diabetes to thyroid, adrenal, and pituitary disorders. Dr. Vinita Bhagia is the Chief of Endocrinology at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. She earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees in 2001 at Lady Hardinge Medical College in New Delhi, India. Son Nguyen, DO, completed his Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of California San Diego in 2009 and then went on to earn his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Des Moines University in 2017. He then completed his residency in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine at Albany Medical Center in 2021. By keeping open communication and an understanding of each patient's unique needs, Dr. Nguyen provides general endocrine care for both pediatric and adult patients.
