Inner Parts Therapy, based on Internal Family Systems (IFS), is a way to give a personification to thoughts, feelings or concepts in the psyche, that stand in the way of the person's desired outcomes in their life. This work empowers and strengthening the True Self, (the part of us that was locked away, many times to be kept safe away from earlier adverse conditions). With just a small amount of focus on what holds us back in our life, most people are able to access inner parts and understand the concept easily. When there is an issue that we need to deal with in therapy, many times an inner part is constraining our life in someway. When we unwind the concealed agendas of these inner parts, fresh insight happens, and the particular motives of these parts are revealed, that keep the compelled behaviors and negative outcomes alive in our lives. Deeply acknowledging the perspective of inner parts, without trying to change a Part's mind about it, is a level of witnessing that brings about lasting transformation. When this occurs it helps to shift compelled behaviors, destructive thoughts, unhealthy decisions, and negative outcomes. My role is to be an informed guide, to help you unpack all of what parts have going on, and that usually is very different that what we think they have going on.
