Barbara’s career has included being a Girl Scout leader, a research assistant in a microbiology lab, a high school and middle school science teacher, a coach for Science Olympiad and the Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision Awards, a judge for both the ExploraVision Awards and the U.S. Army’s eCybermission, a federal advisor on STEM education, a program developer and manager, and a curriculum writer. She has been a member of several different curriculum development committees and advised STEM coordinators in multiple school districts in Pennsylvania. She has collaborated with STEM education experts in Japan, the U.S. government, in states across the U.S., and with local education agencies and schools in Pennsylvania. In addition to developing and presenting trainings, talks, and workshops, Barbara has extensive experience writing about research-based methods of effective science teaching strategies.
