Around 18 months, my son had a speech delayment. I was then referred to St. Louis Children's Hospital where he received speech therapy. He was diagnosed with autism at age 3 in VA. I applied for services to different agencies in Virginia and was denied repeatedly. Thank God I kept pressing. We moved back home to STL about 4 years ago and applied for the same services and was put on the waiting. My son is 19 years old now and transitioning into adulthood. Over those 16 years, I gave him instruments (keyboard, drum lessons, guitar, studio time) to help me communicate and cut a demo. He takes no prescription medication.
