When Leslie Sinclair could find no advocacy help after her then 21-year old son suffered a massive Traumatic Brain Injury, she decided to "do it herself." Since 1988 she has developed strategies for family advocacy. She coaches family members, of individuals who have sustained Traumatic Brain Injuries, to make plans and obtain services.

The purpose/mission of People First of Island County is; "to assist people of disability to realize and appreciate that they are "people first" and their disabilities are secondary and that they are equal citizens in their communities'."
Our goal is; to empower "people" by offering trainings on self-advocacy, inclusion, equality, communication, and much more, we also, provide social events, such as dances, game nights, and other social & community activities which help to build a much needed social support network for our members and their families.
