The Grand Encampment Museum (GEM) is a collection of 15 historical buildings, a transportation barn, and two other historical structures. For the public enjoyment is over 80,000 artifacts. As well, there is a collection of over 24,000 historical photographs. GEM is also an official USDA Forest Service (FS) repository. That means many FS artifacts are stored at GEM. The Grand Encampment Museum, located in Encampment, Wyoming, preserves history with its collection of over a dozen historical buildings filled with artifacts representing the timber, mining, and agricultural history of the Encampment valley.
