About the artist: As a kid I loved building tree forts, making mud pies and drinking grape juice. Along the way to growing up not much changed. In the rural villages of Zimbabwe, Africa, I worked with the local wood carvers. We enjoyed the same love of wood and prepared a food called "sadza" which is strikingly similar to mud pies. In Zim, there was an unfortunate lack of grape juice which limited my stay. Years later, in the mountains of Northern Italy, I had fun making furniture out of recycled wood pallets. I learned to cook Italian "polenta," strikingly similar to "sadza." My enjoyment of grape juice turned into a seasoned palate for good Italian wine.
