UMADAOP believes that substance abuse is best treated and prevented when the cultural dynamics of a group are addressed and included in the process of treatment, recovery and education. UMADAOP's philosophy further states that chemical dependency is an illness of the total person, which has physiological, psychological social-cultural and spiritual components and therefore requires a holistic approach. Recognizing that each community has unique characteristics that must be addressed through prevention applications, Lima-UMADAOP has developed a comprehensive program plan that links prevention strategies with the needs of the community. By creating ATOD and violence prevention systems that prove successful in enhancing resiliency factors, we will be building communities that support and reinforce healthy and positive lifestyles.
