St. Mark Baptist Church has been part of the Waterloo, Iowa community since 1980. Although we celebrate our rich history and lives transformed, we are a group of people who want to be a part of what God is doing now in our community. Although we meet in a building here in Waterloo, Iowa, we believe that the “church” is way more than a building. The church is people. People united around a mission. We are a group of imperfect people of a wide-range of ages that seeks to be transformed by Jesus and share that good news with the world around us. We seek to be a Christ-centered church. We aim to make everything we do centered around God’s mission of the church making fully-devoted followers of Jesus. We teach the Bible. We seek to be a community-focused church. We want to serve and support the Waterloo area and surrounding communities. It’s important to us to be connected with what is happening in our area, and to actively serve the community. We seek to be a loving church. Feel free to come as you are. We’re not going to judge you based on your looks or your past. Every person that walks into our doors is valuable to God and us. Of course, we aren’t perfect, but our intention – and God’s intention – is that everyone who enters the door is welcomed, valued, and cared for.
