Hotlix was started in the early 1980's by Norman Cougar (true name withheld at the request of his relatives). The Hotlix? Cinnamon Sucker was the first product to be introduced. In 1982 Norman purchased a candy store in the downtown area of Pismo Beach. He claims to have chosen the site due to the close proximity to the beach. However, we say it had something to do with being near no less than five drinking establishments! Rumor has it the idea to create the first lollipop with an edible insect originated in one of these establishments. Norman Cougar's vision was realized when he created the Tequila Worm Sucker. Fortunately, he didn't stop there! Ants, Crickets, Scorpions, and Worms are all included in our candy today.
