Rescued roots formed into basic shapes are the beginning raw material for my products. I rescue (again) rejected pieces from the irregular/broken stack at a much larger workplace. I use the flaw, or discoloration, or damage to influence my treatment of each individual piece. Using carving gouges, rotary tools, sanding techniques, saws, burning devices, pigments (inks, paints) and special finishes I make unique art objects of a playful variety. My background in painting comes into play, certainly, and also there are times when other found materials become integral to the finished piece. Metals, leather, stones, and other surprises can be found on my products.
