Today's known best bbq in Birmingham did not come overnight though. Woodard continued learning while watching his Mom and Auntie cook at home, and of course his Dad working the grills and smokers. It was hard for him to work his way to the "cook" position at home, but he got some hands on experience while working his way through high- school. He loaned his expertise to a couple of local establishments during this time (Don's Drive-In and Doc's Fish & More). Woodard eventually moved to Alabama in 1991, and it didn't take long for him to develop a reputation! Woodard has catered family reunions, corporate events and functions for Birmingham's Woodland Park Church of Christ, where he is an elder. This continued for quite a few years, and the requests for More, More, More just kept ring
