About It was 1968, at the age of twenty six, Erwin Kohler and his new wife Judy took a leap of faith and opened Kohler Catering. After working his way from dishwasher at the iconic Sacksteders Restaurant in Dayton to Executive Chef at the University of Dayton's Kennedy Union, Erwin has grown Kohler Catering to success with one simple truth “Never ask someone to do something you wouldn’t do yourself.” In 1980, the Presidential Banquet Center in Kettering was established. It holds four recently renovated banquet rooms that host various sized events. In 2000, The Kohler Center, a new state-of-the-art commissary, kitchen, corporate offices, and banquet facility, was added. Today Kohler Catering services over 3,500 events per year, employs over 125 staff members, and provides catering to Fortune 500 companies, Non-Profit Organizations, Local Sophisticates, Wedding and Social Events, and even intimate In Home Gatherings. Husband and wife team Erwin and Judy pride themselves on being 100% family owned and operated. Son, Craig followed in Erwin’s footsteps and became a chef in his own right. Craig Kohler is the driving force behind the success of the kitchen and deliveries operation. His modern and artistic approach to food design is implemented from buffet tablescapes to the plate. Craig continues the legacy by raising his sons and nephews in the kitchen as well. “Being family owned- our reputation is on the line at all times. We put a great deal of ourselves into our food and service and we want it to be great every single time.” Now 46 years later you just never know where you’ll see the Kohler Catering team. It’s not unusual to find the Kohler family serving meals at the Presidential Banquet Center, on site at your event, creating new menus in the kitchen, or handwriting thank you notes to their customers.
