Dr. Rafiq completed her gastroenterology fellowship at the State University of New York in 2005. She worked at Presbyterian Medical Group as an attending gastroenterologist for four years before joining the University of New Mexico in 2009 to pursue advanced training in endoscopic ultrasound. Dr Rafiq completed her endoscopic ultrasound training in 2010. Dr. Rafiq specializes in pancreaticobiliary disease, endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, Barretts esophagus, radio frequency ablation, single balloon enteroscopy and video capsule endoscopy.

Dr. Barakat received his medical degree from the University of Damascus College of Medicine in Damascus, Syria. He went on to complete his internship in Internal Medicine at Michael Reese Hospital at the University of Illinois in Chicago, IL. Dr. Barakat completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, IL before finishing his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque, NM. Dr. Barakat has received many honors and awards including the Resident of the Year Award from Mercy Hospital and Medical Center at the University of Illinois, the Excellence in Research Award at the Southwest Young Investigators Conference in Sedona, AZ and the Scholar Award Winner Abstract at the Western Regional Conference in Carmel, CA. Dr. Madrid completed his Bachelor of Arts degree at California State University of Fullerton in Fullerton, CA. He went on to complete his medical degree at the University of California, Irvine College of Medicine in Irvine, CA. Dr. Madrid completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of New Mexico, VA Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM, and finished his fellowship in Gastroenterology from the same school. Dr. Madrid has won many awards and honors including Honors in Surgery from the University of California and the UCI College of Medicine Service Award. Dr. Madrid is a member of the Colorado Medical Society, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and is a Board Member of the Crohn?s and Colitis Foundation of America, Rocky Mountain Chapter. Dr. Madrid is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

Michael Layfield, MMS, PA-C received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Georgia in Athens, GA graduating with Honors. He went on to complete his Physician Assistant degree at Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood, CO graduating with Honors. Michael also earned his Masters of Medical Science degree from St. Francis University in Labonte, PA graduating with Honors. Michael has received many honors and awards including the United States Student Ambassador Award and the Appalachian Trail Through Hiker Award. He has also been a member of the Gamma Beta Phi Society. Michael maintains memberships with the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Colorado Academy of Physician Assistants and the Appalachian Trail Conference. Michael is certified with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and with the Drug Enforcement Agency.?He is also certified in?Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and?Basic Cardiovascular Life Support.

Dr. Michaletz-Onody completed her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. She went on to complete her medical degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Dr. Michaletz-Onody completed her internship at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, OK, and did her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. Dr. Michaletz-Onody finished her fellowship in Gastroenterology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Dr. Michaletz-Onody has won many awards and honors including the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Career Development Award and the Kelsey ? Seybold Foundation Grant. Dr. Michaletz-Onody has been practicing Gastroenterology in the Denver area since 2000. Prior to this, she held positions as Clinical Faculty at the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, WA, and acted as Chief of Therapeutic Endoscopy

Heidi received her Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1997 from Rockhurst College in Kansas City, MO. She worked as a resident nurse in various fields for ten years before receiving her Master of Science in an adult nurse practitioner program in 2011. Heidi worked for two years as an inpatient gastroenterology nurse practitioner with Mercy Health Systems in Springfield, MO. In 2014, Heidi moved back to Colorado and joined the Rocky Mountain Gastroenterology.

Dr. Husain completed his bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery degree at AGA Khan University Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan. He went on to complete his internship in Internal Medicine at the University of North Dakota in Fargo, ND. Dr. Husain did his residency in Internal Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH. He then finished his fellowship in Gastroenterology at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Husain has won many awards and honors including the ICIC Merit Scholarship for graduate medical training at AGA Khan University Hospital, awarded to only three students in Pakistan. Dr. Husain is a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the Cleveland Clinic Alumni Association. Dr. Husain is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
