Dr. Hammon then returned to Oregon, the home of his parents, to attend the University of Oregon. He graduated with honors in 1980. Dr. Hammon then attended OHSU School of Dentistry, graduating with honors in 1983. He then completed a one-year hospital dental residency at Denver General Hospital. This was followed by one-year residency in dental anesthesiology at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Hammon then entered his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, New York.
