At Calliope School of Music we do more than just teach you how to play, we strive to develop our students’ knowledge and techniques to empower them to learn, grow, and create on their own. Our private one-on-one lessons include proper technique, music fundamentals, sight-reading, ear training and theory regardless of the student’s age. Most adults can recall taking music lessons as a children, and they might even be able to still recite a simple piece remember. However, most adults do not have the tools to pick these instruments back up and start learning again. Methods of teaching by rote limit the students’ knowledge and create dependence on the teacher. These systems might create life-long students, but not life-long learners. Unlike other music schools and teachers we move past these detrimental methods to give our students a stronger basis of knowledge. In the spirit of our namesake, the Greek Muse Calliope, our teachers work to inspire the artists of tomorrow. Our ultimate goal is to give our students all the tools and knowledge they need and the desire to become life-long learners, to move beyond their dependence on a teacher and learn on their own. Music education knows no age limit. We accommodate young children to adults. Each child has different aptitudes and interests, one toddler could sit perfect at the piano while a 7 year old might not have the attention span, which is why we don't have an age requirement for our lessons. We offer private music lessons in guitar, bass guitar, piano, violin and voice. Our highly qualified teachers are college trained. We also offer special events like recitals.

Parent and student welcome to visit the studio first for free consultation. In some cases, house calls may be arranged for $50. Any enthusiastic student age 7 through adult is welcome. I teach popular music. A bit of classical may be introduced for theory and technique, but the emphasis is on modern music. Students learn to play music they enjoy : rock, pop, country, oldies, or whatever. Private 1 on 1 lessons only. After studying and enjoying the instrument for many years, my teaching strategy is to employ only the more relevant applications in order to streamline the process. In addition to learning the mechanics of the instrument, ideas are presented that eventually lead to a well-rounded education of music in general.
