Teaching Artists Corey and LaQuita Marie Staten are storytellers with an inclusive style of education that uses the theories of philosophers Piaget, Vgotsky, and Chomsky to edutain audiences. They have over 10 years of professional experience in the performing arts with venues such as The Hurrah Players, Chrysler Museum, and Young Audiences of VA, to name a few. Founded in 1999 as Atumpan - The Talking Drums, the troupe has since formed the non-profit organization Atumpan Edutainment to encompass their diverse style of storytelling for the stage, for community players, and for learning.
