A non-profit formed in 1980, Stroke Support Association's mission: Empowering stroke survivors and their families with resources to recover, reclaim, and rebuild their lives. We hold weekly in-person support group meetings in Long Beach and online for stroke survivors and separately with family caregivers.

Retirement Housing Foundation (RHF) is a non-profit organization of 198 communities in 29 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. RHF provides housing and services to more than 22,500 older adults, low-income families, and persons with disabilities. The RHF logo symbolizes a program that has grown from the very modest beginnings of a $7,000 investment. With this investment, combined with the efforts of three United Church of Christ (UCC) visionaries, RHF has grown to be one of the largest organizations devoted to building and preserving affordable housing for the most vulnerable members of society.

We believe community members should be fully educated with accurate and complete information about the effects of restrictive regulations that are currently under consideration. Our organization is solutions-oriented; our goals are to educate our community without any special interest political agendas attached. We want to work with the City to find innovative answers to the housing problems facing Long Beach, rather than restrictive city policies that will devalue our neighborhoods.

BARK dogs listen to children read in libraries and elementary schools to help kids learn in a fun, nonjudgmental atmosphere. Kids love to read to the soft, furry listeners. BARK dogs also bring joy to college students during finals, senior centers, hospitals, veterans, disabled adults, and community events from the San Fernando Valley to San Diego. All dogs and handlers undergo a 16-point evaluation before being certified as a BARK Therapy Dog team.
