Zemek Engineering, which has operated since 1975, services mining companies and heavy industry throughout Queensland and NSW. In addition to the workshop at Mackay Harbour, Zemek recently opened a workshop at Lochinvar in NSW. The company provides high quality repair and refurbishment of mining equipment and provides a range of new products which use local designs, and are cast or manufactured in Queensland. New products include links, spreaders, equalisers, bushes, pins, dump blocks, shovel parts, shackles and sockets. Zemek distributes MI 29 electric mirrors which are used on mine sites. Zemek won the 2012 Queensland Safe Work Awards for the best workplace health and safety practice in a small business and later won the 2013 national award.
