We serve corporations, government agencies, schools, colleges and universities, hospitals, adult care communities and large nonprofits that find themselves “on trial in the Court of Public Opinion.” We opened our doors 31 years ago as a full-service public relations firm but turned our attention fulltime to crisis work shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks 20 years ago. We average about 150 clients a year and our past and present client list includes Avery Dennison, Goodyear, Lubrizol, Sunoco Logistics, ThyssenKrupp and Ohio University, to name just a few. With offices in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, we have a staff of five fulltime, senior level professionals, all with significant experience. Our managing partner is Thom Fladung, the former managing editor of The Plain Dealer, Detroit Free Press and the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Howard Fencl ran big city TV newsrooms for 20 years. Stephanie York, our in-house counsel, was assistant law director and chief communications officer for the City of Akron, Ohio. Nora Jacobs, our Senior Vice President, has more than three decades of agency and corporate experience, beginning her career at the BF Goodrich Chemical Group and later as executive vice president of what used to be the nation’s oldest independent public relations firm. Our CEO, Bruce Hennes, began his career in 1972 working in politics followed by three years as the executive director of a large nonprofit, three years in the automotive industry and then opening this firm in 1989.

"Use your words," spoken in a toddler-addressing voice, may be the most formative phrase in my existence. It also gets a good laugh when said to a newborn, a dog, or an incoherent person who, for whatever reason, isn't communicating very well. For me, it wasn't just a thing like, eat your vegetables or tie your shoes... or don't hit your brother. I always ignored that last one anyway. "Use your words" sort of became my mantra. And it helped me with my personal mission (caution: this is getting deep, but only for a sec.) The consulting company was founded by Carolyn M. Anderson, Ph.D., Emeritus status from University of Akron. Special areas of expertise are leadership, small groups, and public speaking. In press are a text and workbook on leadership for adolescents. Aside from being a published writer, she has worked for major corporations with their workplace communication needs interpersonally and in small groups. She public speaks on a variety of communication topics.
