They constructed the current building at Central and Greer in 1948, under the leadership of The Rev. Alfred "Tib" Loaring-Clark. Saint John's first rector, The Rev. Loaring Clark, and his successor, The Rev. Wallace M. "Penny" Pennepacker, led the church for a combined 57 years and grew it into a large congregation in what is now known as the University District. In more recent years, Saint John's has become a place for growing families, community engagement, and spiritual healing. More than a church, Kingdom U is a non-denominational apostolic advancement center with a passion for Evangelism. CHRIST commissioned the Apostles to go and preach the WORD to all creation - Mark 16:15 and we are dedicated to doing just that. Our motto "We Are U," is an expression of compassion because we once were lost and without CHRIST but HIS LOVE redeemed us and we are dedicated to sharing HIS UNWAVERING LOVE. KINGDOM U is a PRESENCE ministry as we understand the power is not in the presence of our leaders but in the PRESENCE of our KING. There is Protection in HIS PRESENCE Psalm 91 as well as JOY, BLESSINGS, ABUNDANCE and HEALING Psalm 16:11 therefore we are dedicated to leading people to the place where their help truly comes from. Kingdom U is an equipping ministry. We do not gather to collect numbers. We gather to train, prepare and equip servants & soldiers for their KINGDOM purpose through the WORD and Apostolic/Prophetic activation. Kingdom U is a praying/interceding church as we understand the Acts of the Apostle were birthed out of intense prayer. And it is a command from our Messiah JESUS to always pray! Kingdom U is a ministry devoted to UNITY for the WORD of the LORD declares in Psalm 133 that unity is pleasant to the LORD and it is equivalent to the anointing. And finally we a ministry that values diversity. One of the most beautiful gifts we have is diversity and it is our passion to celebrate diversity of gifting, diversity of culture and diversity of purpose.
