They constructed the current building at Central and Greer in 1948, under the leadership of The Rev. Alfred "Tib" Loaring-Clark. Saint John's first rector, The Rev. Loaring Clark, and his successor, The Rev. Wallace M. "Penny" Pennepacker, led the church for a combined 57 years and grew it into a large congregation in what is now known as the University District. In more recent years, Saint John's has become a place for growing families, community engagement, and spiritual healing.
