They constructed the current building at Central and Greer in 1948, under the leadership of The Rev. Alfred "Tib" Loaring-Clark. Saint John's first rector, The Rev. Loaring Clark, and his successor, The Rev. Wallace M. "Penny" Pennepacker, led the church for a combined 57 years and grew it into a large congregation in what is now known as the University District. In more recent years, Saint John's has become a place for growing families, community engagement, and spiritual healing. DJ ROKER, is a religious broadcaster, radio and television host, entrepreneur, and Christian minister. He is the founder and CEO of Reaching Our Generation International, an outreach ministry and global mission effort headquartered in Memphis, TN (USA). Since 1995, DJ has worked in the field of broadcast media, and has served in various capacities in the gospel ministry since 1997. He has hosted numerous conferences and seminars, and speaks on topics such as faith, leadership, and personal development.

We will gather those in distress or trouble: those who are in debt or poverty, those who are discontented or dissatisfied and those in need of direction. Our purpose for gathering them is to train disciple of Jesus Christ that will work fearlessly to take back inner cities across America. We will establish missions, Christian businesses , and relationships with local ministries to minister to distressed people and spread the good news of salvation, which is through Christ alone. The Lighthouse is a church with a specific calling to provide faith-based recovery support services. We are equipped to provide those we serve with the following: Residential Program: This program focuses on overcoming addiction and homelessness. The students are provided with: Financial Training Anger Management Fatherhood Parenting A 12-Step Program Relapse Prevention Discipleship Pastoral Support Back to work program: A unique part of our ministry is the employment assistance we provide. Having an opportunity for the men and women to become gainfully employed is instrumental in their recovery process. It provides them with a feeling of self-worth, as well as a means to help cover the cost of their care.

The Lord has instructed us in His Holy word that we should not forsake the assembling of ourselves together.
