FIELDGUIDES INC. offers hands on experiential learning opportunities for schools and youth groups with overnight camping environmental science and social history programs. It's two main focuses are California coastal social and environmental science and California Gold Rush history programs. It is a mobile operation working a different State and County Parks throughout the state of California. As well as providing curriculum that meets Common Core requirements and the EEI initiative along with STEM practices, FIELDGUIDES also makes stewardship and conservation practices a focal point of all its programs. The program is run small family camping style, with students, teachers, and chaperones all helping to cook and clean and then sleeping outdoors in tents to give everyone a chance to get closer to nature. The days are filled with hiking exploration of the local ecosystem, led by knowledgeable fieldgudies who help students learn about, enjoy, and care for the world around them.
